Meet Portland! Portland is a sweet, young pup who is about a year old. He came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center from a hoarding situation where he lived with many other dogs like him. Now, he’s ready to live the good life with the individual attention he so deserves!

Big fan of: Food and playing with other dogs! Other dogs help to boost Portland’s confidence. He also really enjoys walking with his human friends, with or without another dog buddy. He loves toys and will entertain himself throwing them around and rolling on the floor once he’s caught them.

Working on: Portland is very curious and food motivated, so he may need some puppy-proofing when brought into his home so he doesn’t get into any shenanigans. He has learned to go into a crate for a tasty treat and can settle in and rest while in the crate. He may not want to share high value items like bones and treats, so supervision around other dogs is recommended.

Dream home: Portland would do great in a fun-loving home with lots of toys and soft beds to roll around on. He takes good care of his cushy beds and will even move them around to find the perfect spot to sleep in. He enjoys hanging out with people while they do work, watch TV, etc., but will also settle when left alone. Portland may be shy upon meeting new people but treats and toys are the way into his heart. He is an agile little guy and would do great with a person that wants to teach him skills! He has also done well living with a cat in a foster home—he was just curious about the cat’s food.
