Yukon
Meet Yukon! Yukon was rescued from a cruelty situation where he lived with many other animals when he was still just an adolescent puppy. He came to the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center to help build his confidence and prepare him for life in a home. He can be nervous around new people at first, but once he warms up, he is a fun and playful guy! Yukon is ready to find a home of his very own, with dedicated adopters who can help him understand the big world around him and soak up all the love and attention of a beloved companion dog.
Big fan of: Dogs! Tug! Things to chew! Like the young pup he is, Yukon adores other dogs and thrives on running around with his doggie companions. Yukon also loves treats, especially cheese! Catching cheese pieces tossed in the air is one of his favorite tricks. But the real key to Yukon’s heart is play! Yukon is a huge fan of playing tug—with both humans and dog friends! He also loves to chew on hard toys and bones.
Working on: Comfort around people, especially being petted. Yukon can be a bit fearful and is nervous about people reaching towards him. An adopter who can make him feel safe and allow him to get comfortable at his own pace would be ideal. Yukon has never lived in a home or known the love of an adopter, so patience will be key to winning his heart.
Dream home: Yukon would love a patient and dedicated adopter who understands that he may need time to figure out how to be a dog and support him when he finds the world scary. He would love some dog friends; an active dog in the home to show him the ropes and help him figure out home living would be helpful, but even having dog friends who he visits with frequently would make him very happy. Yukon has lots of young dog energy, so being able to run and play in a safely contained environment would be ideal.
